I've been building a boxing management game called Cornerman. It's in the spirit of Football Manager: you run a gym, sign and develop fighters, take fight offers and work the corner between rounds on fight night. The look borrows BoxRec's dense record tables, with Amiga-era pixel art on top.

Fight night in Cornerman

It runs in the browser, no account needed, and you can add it to your phone's home screen so it runs full screen like an app.

The key ideas

  • You're the corner, not the fighter. You don't throw any punches. Between rounds you give an instruction, e.g. pressure, jab, survive, and the fighter may or may not listen. That comes down to their discipline, morale, temperament and loyalty, plus how good your trainer is. A stubborn fighter ignores you more often, and a fiery one tends to go on the attack whatever you say.
  • Fight week matters. At the press conference and face-off you pick respect, trash talk, mind games or a shove. It can rattle the opponent or fire them up, and it carries into the fight as composure, aggression and motivation modifiers.
  • Everything is made up. Fighters, names, gyms and the four world sanctioning bodies are all generated. No real fight data is stored. Published per-round averages, roughly 17 to 19 punches landed a round in the middle divisions and about 36% connect on power punches, only set the ranges the engine was tuned to.
